GEP ECOTECH Provides Intelligent and Efficient Wood Granulation Production Lines

17

In the field of biomass energy and circular economy, converting wood and agricultural waste into high-density pellet fuels is a key path to achieving resource appreciation and sustainable development. A scientifically designed and reasonably configured wood granulation production line is the core of ensuring product quality, improving production efficiency, and controlling costs.

Biomass Raw Materials: Characteristics and Pretreatment Analysis

Generally speaking, the characteristics of raw materials directly determine the pre-treatment process and host selection. The common raw materials and characteristic analysis are as follows:

High quality wood chips, such as sawdust and shavings, are ideal raw materials with excellent fiber structure, smooth granulation, and low mold loss.

Coarse raw materials such as tree branches and wooden blocks require heavy-duty pretreatment equipment (slicer+shredder) for volume reduction and refinement.

Agricultural straw such as rice husk and wheat straw, with light texture and strong fiber toughness, requires specialized shredding equipment and may require adjusting process parameters or adding binders.

The finished product specifications of particles are directly related to mold selection and process control. Usually, 6mm and 8mm are common product diameter specifications, which can be achieved by replacing the ring mold. High quality particles require a density greater than 1.0 g/cm ³, which depends on precise raw material conditioning, appropriate shredding particle size, and mold compression ratio design.

Introduction to Wood Granulation Production Line Process and Equipment

The wood granulation process generally includes three steps:

Wood Pellets

Raw Material Pretreatment

Wood Chipper: As a pioneer in processing coarse raw materials, it shreds logs, branches, etc. into uniformly sized wood chips, laying the foundation for subsequent wood recycling processes.

Wood Shredder: It uses high-speed rotating hammers to impact and shear materials, efficiently processing wood chips into raw materials with uniform particle size (recommended below 3-5mm), with wide applicability and strong stability.

Drying System

Drum Dryer: This equipment uses the rotation of the drum to mix wet materials with hot air thoroughly and evenly for heat exchange, resulting in high drying efficiency, large processing capacity, and stable operation. After being processed by a drum dryer, the moisture content of the material ranges from 12% to 18%.

Heat source selection: Gas or oil fired boilers, or more economical biomass combustion furnaces (using their own waste as fuel) can be selected based on local energy costs.

Wood Granulation Equipment

The biomass pellet machine turns agricultural waste, forestry residues, and used wood into compact pellets. This transformation significantly increases energy density, reduces volume and moisture, and enhances combustion performance. Widely adopted as fuel in industrial and domestic settings, these pellets represent a sustainable energy solution that lessens dependence on traditional resources and minimizes environmental footprint, facilitating the efficient use of biomass.

Auxiliary Equipment

Conveying System: It is recommended to use a combination of screw conveyors (horizontal/small inclination, sealed and dust-proof) to achieve seamless and automated flow of materials between various workstations.

Cooling System: The particles just out of the machine have high temperature and soft texture. A counterflow cooler is the best choice, where cold air comes into reverse contact with hot particles from bottom to top, resulting in high cooling efficiency, good particle shaping effect, and effective loss of some moisture.

Screening and Packaging System: The vibrating grading screen can effectively separate finished particles from fine powder, improve product appearance and value, and the fine powder can be reused for granulation. The backend can configure automatic quantitative packaging machines or ton bag packaging systems according to demand to achieve product commercialization.

Building a successful wood granulation production line is a systematic project. We will select equipment based on your needs, starting from your raw materials, production capacity, and product standards, and recommend the most efficient and economical equipment configuration plan to ensure smooth capacity matching and connection between various equipment units, achieving automation and scale production.

We believe that with the above professional and systematic equipment configuration, you will be able to establish a high-quality wood granulation production line that operates stably, has excellent efficiency, and generates considerable returns. If you have specific needs, our technical team can provide you with one-on-one customized solutions.
