In the economically dynamic Yangtze River Delta region of China, a waste textile alternative fuel production line with an annual capacity of 100,000 tons is set to be commissioned. This innovative production line will provide efficient and environmentally friendly RDF (Refuse-Derived Fuel) to a cement kiln operated by a state-owned enterprise, replacing traditional coal and significantly reducing greenhouse gas emissions. The project not only accelerates the green transformation of the cement industry but also stands as a key development in the circular economy sector.
The Yangtze River Delta is a global hub for textile and garment production, generating vast quantities of clothing each year, which inevitably results in substantial textile waste. Effectively managing this waste has long been a challenge. This 100,000-ton per year alternative fuel production line converts waste textiles into high-energy RDF fuel, addressing the local processing capacity shortage while reducing fossil fuel usage. The project strongly supports energy conservation, emissions reduction, and the promotion of the circular economy.
GEP ECOTECH has provided the complete design and core equipment for the project. Unlike traditional setups using "dual-shaft shredder + single-shaft shredder + RDF pelleting machine," this production line features three differently configured dual-shaft shredders that precisely shred the materials step-by-step. The shredded materials then go through an RDF pelletizing process to form fuel rods. This innovative process reduces downtime for maintenance, cuts energy consumption and operating costs, while ensuring stable operation under high load conditions.
Given that this is a key project for 2024, the construction timeline was tight. Faced with an approaching year-end deadline, GEP ECOTECH’s production team responded swiftly, optimizing processes and initiating a "special treatment" mode. With the team working overtime and closely collaborating with the client’s team, all equipment was produced in under 50 working days. The installation of major equipment has been completed, and the production line is now in the electrical commissioning phase, with the official commissioning expected in December.
The project manager, Mr. Hu, praised GEP ECOTECH’s performance: "GEP ECOTECH has top-tier domestic production facilities, with high-precision processing equipment and intelligent manufacturing processes, ensuring first-class equipment quality. Their team’s quick response and professionalism have significantly contributed to the smooth progress of our project. We are excited about the official commissioning of this production line!"
In pursuit of its ambitious carbon neutrality and carbon peaking goals, China is taking rapid action. While new energy industries such as solar and wind power are experiencing fast growth, traditional industries are also undergoing significant transformation. Key measures such as using alternative fuels in cement kilns, co-firing biomass in coal-fired power plants, and waste sorting and incineration for power generation are central to reducing carbon emissions.
As a company specializing in solid waste resource utilization solutions, GEP ECOTECH is actively integrating national policies, continuously innovating technologies, and providing efficient and reliable green solutions to traditional industries. Going forward, GEP ECOTECH will continue to support the green transformation of various industries, contributing to global carbon neutrality goals.
